Living in Newport on the Isle of Wight and working from a bench in the corner of my bedroom, I am a relative newcomer to the jewellery world. My background is in publishing and retail so moving into jewellery design and production was a leap of faith for me. Having taken a course at Quay Arts, here on the Isle of Wight, led by the charming and inspiring Rob Fenton and Kelly Yates of jewellers Union of Opposites, I have quickly progressed to running my own business with work selling well in galleries and a number of commissions under my belt.
I am a keen gardener, with a bird's eye view of my garden from my work bench so I guess it is natural that much of my jewellery should feature flowers and leaves as a recurring theme. The creation of a bee-friendly herb garden has been particularly inspiring and led directly to the incorporation of bees into my work, and the changing seasons have led to a new line of seedhead designs, which I am gradually introducing to the website.
Ultimately I like my work to be wearable by a wide range of people and I think it is successful due to being subtle and classic while still retaining artistry and individuality.
